Dr. Benjamin (Ben) Ruston joined JCSDA in November 2021, as part of the OBS team. Ben will be working with the team to demonstrate a world leading comprehensive suite of environmental observations in the JEDI framework.

Ben graduated from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, with a PhD in Atmospheric Science. This followed a Bachelor of Fine Arts from DePaul in Chicago, IL and a Bachelor in Physics from University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse.  He has interest in a wide range of observation types both remotely sensed, in-situ and crowd sourced.

Ben met his future wife in Colorado, and they moved to Monterey, CA where Ben was a longtime employee at the Naval Research Lab Marine Meteorology Division before he joined the JCSDA team.

Ben enjoys running, biking and hiking; spending time with his family and children; music and arts; and good food, drink and conversation.
