Registration for the 6th bi-annual JEDI Academy is now open! The 6th JEDI Academy will be held virtually via Zoom June 21 - 25, 2021. Registration is limited to 50 applicants and will remain open until June 1, 2021.

On March 26, a dedicated internal release of the soca-science repository for the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Global Ocean Data Assimilation System (GODAS) was created.

The effort is the first application of a realistic, end to end, JEDI-based data assimilation (DA) system for a JCSDA partner agency — and a demonstration of the flexibility of the JEDI.

As announced in early March, the 18th JCSDA Technical Review Meeting and Science Workshop will be held virtually during the week of June 7 - 11, 2021.

Registration is now open with a registration deadline of May 17, 2021 for all prospective attendees.

On Thursday, March 18th at 1:00 pm MT, the DTC and JCSDA are jointly hosting a seminar presented by Shih-Wei Wei from the Atmospheric Science Research Center.

The Introduction to the Joint Effort for Data assimilation Integration (JEDI) AMS short course took place on March 10, 2021. Spanning only four hours, the short course was designed to be a condensed version of what one might learn on the first day of a typical JEDI Academy.

We are pleased to announce the 18th JCSDA Technical Review Meeting and Science Workshop will be held virtually during the week of June 7 - 11, 2021. The workshop was canceled last year due to COVID-19.

The annual JCSDA Technical Review Meeting and Science Workshop enables scientists partnering with JCSDA and the external research community to share the latest developments in satellite data assimilation, particularly as they relate to the status of JCSDA priorities and projects.

The JCSDA hosted its 9th Symposium as part of the 101st Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) January 9-15, 2021. The Annual Meeting was held as a completely virtual event as a result of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges presented by meeting completely online, the Meeting and the Symposium were successful.

A successful 4-week code sprint was conducted jointly by JCSDA core staff and NOAA contributors to greatly advance the capabilities of the observation component of the Joint Effort for Data Assimilation Integration (JEDI).

The 5th JEDI Academy was the first virtually hosted Academy by the JCSDA. It was conducted via Zoom the week of November 16 - 20, 2020. Typically JEDI Academies are held in person, serving as outlets for networking and face-to-face collaboration across partnering institutions and communities. According to participants, the 5th Academy was an excellent learning and networking experience despite the virtual environment.
